SOGN "Good News" Reports & "YES" Club Updates:
We are thrilled to hold "Young Eagles Success" Club Character Development Workshops for Kids as well as
"Young Eagles Soaring Inspirational Choir" (YES-IC) Rehearsals @ the Salvation Army Kilburn Community
Center @ 210 N. Kilburn Ave.(@ Jefferson St.) on Wednesdays from 1-2PM and 3:30-5PM. The Center
Director, Mr. James Suggs, is a long-time Friend of Mr. C's who worked with SOGN in the Mid-Ninety's! Mr. C
also wrote the 1st After School "Safe Place" Program Proposal just after the Facility was erected in 1989 when
he was the Community Outreach Director for the YMCA! God did it again! We are also proud to expand our
Collaborations with Pastor David Thies & St. Paul Lutheran Church (SPLC) with upcoming Events and Projects
@ both their Central (Kilburn Ave. & Locust St.) and NW (4881 W. Kilburn Ave.)Sites! SOGN has provided
special Music for their Annual July outside "Neighborhood Fest" for the last 17 years! Upcoming Events include
"First Fridays" with Dianna's "It's All In Me" Women's Workshop Retreats @ 6-8PM @ the SPLC NW Site!

Life through the Wisdom of God's Word and her vast Experiences. Her HEART to HELP
Women to Help themselves so they can Help Others is most important! The entire
Experience often ends in Tears of JOY and Cheers of HOPE! BRAVO, Ms. C! WE LOVE

WE CELEBRATE TWO SPECIAL BIRTHDAYS THIS MONTH: Dianna's Mother Luvina
Collins (the 24th) and her Sister Bobbie Collins (the 25th)! We Thank the Lord for their
Stand for the Gospel of Jesus Christ as well as their Loyalty to the Ministry @ Holy
Temple Church Of God In Christ in Freeport, IL and beyond! "WE LOVE THEM"!
We are PROUD to inform you that on Monday, May 25th, SOGN presented a Post-Memorial
Day Parade Community "FREEDOM Celebration" Downtown @ Memorial Hall (N. Main St.
& Mulberry), including a Patriotic "Sing-a-long" and a Concert featuring Carl & Dianna
Cole and the "YES-IC"! The Kids will also be Singing at the "Flag Day" Kick-off
Neighborhood "CHURCH 4U" Service on Sunday, June 14th @ SPLC @ 1:30PM. Monthly
Celebrations will continue throughout the Summer and Fall on every 2nd Sunday! The
Kids have also been asked to be the Focal Group on a Special "Donation Float" for the 4th
of July Parade this year! We appreciate Mr. Joe Marino (Mr. Fourth) and the 4th of July
Committee for their $upport of the "YES" Club throughout the year! BRAVO!
We would also like to CONGRATULATE Mr. CARL A. COLE for being one of Six
Recipients of the "Father of the Year" Award by the Rockford Ethnic Museum. Mr. C was
chosen as the "African-American" Honoree! The Ceremony took place on Sunday, June
7th @ the Lithuanian Club! Click HERE to read the Beautiful Article in the "Rock River
Times" Paper! THANK YOU, Mr. C, for being a Loving Father and FRIEND to Us!
Also, by Inspiration of God and the Award, Mr. C is presened a "Father's Day" Concert on
Sunday, June 21st @ Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center @ 5PM, Celebrating the "1st
Day of Summer" and "National Black Music History Month"! The Event featured the
Musical Magic of Son, Andrew @ Drums, Jeremy Toledo @ Upright Bass & "New
Member" Jim McElhaney @ Electric Clarinet! We also enjoyed Powerful "Openers" by
Pianist & Singer, Ms. Betty Pumphrey as well as several Kids from the YES-IC! Special
performances included "Senior Dancer" Jerry Martin and the Fabulous "Living Legend"
Mr. Julian Swain! The Concert was blanketed by Ms. C's "Dianna-namic" Voice and Spirit!
A closing Tribute to Nat King Cole included a rendition of "Too Young" by Jermaine
Robinson as well as an Explosive "L.O.V.E." & "Route 66" Medley by Dianna!
